A Volunteer Organization
For over thirty years Divorce Recovery, now a non-profit 501C3 organization, has served the Tucson community. This volunteer program has provided a unique service of support and education to individuals and families going through the break-up of their relationship. While there are many other divorce support groups in the country, Divorce Recovery, Inc of Tucson, AZ as a volunteer led and volunteer run program, is unlike any other. It is unique because of the volunteer commitment and leadership and because in its basic groups, it is a free program. Most of its funding comes from donations or from fund-raisers led by the volunteers.

Divorce Recovery would not exist except for these dedicated and committed volunteers that have served the community for these twenty years. Committed to serving adults and children going through the break-up of their family relationship, most of these leaders have experienced divorce or are the children of divorce and are deeply aware of the distress in other people. Aware of the process, they enter into the suffering of people in order to share their pain, sorrow, and hope. This empathic response is at the core of Divorce Recovery.

Divorce Recovery leaders are professionals and lay people with high school, technical, and graduate degrees and students working on undergraduate degrees. Many of the leaders have participated in a Divorce Recovery group and want to give back in some way to others who are experiencing divorce. Others have never been married, but have experienced divorce as a child and feel called to serve children of divorce. Some of the leaders have been married for forty years and others for two years. Some are young students and others are in their elder years.
